System Operations Engineer - Snowflake Infrastructure - Contractor - Remote (Part-Time)

We are looking for an experienced System Operations Engineer with deep knowledge of Snowflake and supporting AWS infrastructure to join us on a part-time contract basis. You will help maintain the health, performance, and availability of our data infrastructure and ensure related services are secure, up-to-date, and functioning smoothly.

Role Overview

This is a part-time, flexible-hours role ideal for someone who wants to contribute to a robust data environment without the commitment of full-time work. You will be the go-to person for Snowflake infrastructure operations, owning monitoring, updates, and cloud infrastructure configuration related to Snowflake pipelines and integrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain the stability, performance, and security of our Snowflake environment.
  • Perform regular updates, patches, and audits.
  • Ensure proper integration with other services and data pipelines.
  • Manage AWS infrastructure elements that support Snowflake operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues related to connectivity, ingestion, and access.
  • Proactively identify areas for performance and cost optimisation.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on Snowflake usage, access policies, and best practices.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Solid experience managing Snowflake environments in production.
  • Strong understanding of AWS infrastructure, especially in the context of Snowflake support.
  • Proficient with infrastructure monitoring, logging, and automated maintenance.
  • Familiar with data pipeline patterns and secure access management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and an ownership mindset.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.

Role Details

  • Location: Remote
  • Contract Type: Contractor (Outside IR35 for UK-based contractors)
  • Time Commitment: Approx. 2 days per week, flexible schedule
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Rate: Competitive, based on experience
