TypeScript AI Developers - Contractor - Remote (UK Hours)

We are hiring 3 AI developers on a contract basis to help build out our intelligent platform and agent systems using cutting-edge AI and software technologies. If you're experienced in TypeScript, OpenAI integrations, Effect, and passionate about building intelligent tools and workflows, we want to hear from you.

Role Overview

As an AI Developer, you'll work on platform infrastructure and AI-based systems to enable context-aware agent functionality. This includes building features around OpenAI function/tool calls, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and scalable backend systems. You will join a fast-moving, technically-minded team focused on creating intelligent automation capabilities for real business use cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop intelligent features using TypeScript and Effect-TS, leveraging best practices from functional programming.
• Integrate OpenAI APIs, including tool/function calling, memory management, and conversational agents.
• Implement support for MCP (Model Context Protocol) and modular toolchains.
• Build reliable backend services and APIs to support AI workflows.
• Collaborate with product and platform teams to design extensible systems.
• Contribute to scalable architecture, maintainable codebases, and test strategies.

Key Skills and Experience

• Proficient in TypeScript and familiar with Effect-TS or other functional programming libraries.
• Hands-on experience building products or internal tools that use OpenAI's APIs, including tool calling.
• Familiar with AI agents, function calling, and multi-step workflows.
• Strong backend development skills (Node.js, platform APIs, scalable services).
• Comfortable designing data structures and interactions that power AI tools.
• Fluency in English and ability to work UK business hours, regardless of location.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Familiarity with LangChain, LangGraph, MCP, or similar multi-agent frameworks.
• Experience with serverless architectures, PostgreSQL, vector stores, or retrieval systems.
• Interest in or experience building products around AI-powered automation.

Contract Details

• Location: Remote, must be available during UK working hours
• Contract Type: Contractor (Outside IR35 for UK-based contractors)
• Duration: 6+ months (with long-term potential)
• Start Date: ASAP
• Rate: Competitive, based on experience
